2026 SASP Regionals at CMP Talladega
I had to miss the 2025 SASP Regionals because of a scheduling conflict, so I was really excited to make it back this year! We started getting ready a few days before by cleaning the guns and getting in some practice. Before we hit the road on Friday though, we had to make some homemade beef jerky—you can’t go on a road trip without good snacks!
After a 4.5‑hour drive we finally arrived, and it reminded me how awesome CMP is. One day I’d love to go back and just spend time enjoying everything about that place. Once we got checked in, we headed straight to the range where I loaded up my three optic guns (PCC, Rimfire Rifle Optic, and Rimfire Optic Pistol). After the safety brief we went to our bays and got started. Like usual, my dad was both my RO and my coach, which always keeps things interesting, but we make it work! I shot pretty well with those three guns, even though I didn’t do quite as well as I hoped. My dad always reminds me, “Your worst is someone else’s best,” and that helps keep things in perspective.
After shooting that afternoon, we celebrated with some Texas Roadhouse, which was as great as always. Then we made a quick stop at Five Below for snacks and a few essentials… and somehow tried to check into the wrong hotel (that was a mess 😂). Once we finally got to the right place, it was definitely time to get some sleep.
The next morning we were back at the range to shoot my two iron guns (Iron Pistol and Iron Rifle). We started on Stage M, which isn’t my favorite stage, and I didn’t shoot it as well as I wanted. But I finished strong on the other three stages and ended up setting two awesome personal records! After I finished shooting, we stuck around and got to hang out with some of my Tandemkross teammates and a few friends I don’t get to see very often, which is always one of the best parts of these matches.
We headed home later that afternoon excited to see the family again. On Sunday when the awards were posted online, my five squads finished 1st in three divisions and 2nd in two. For me, this match is great practice for Nationals, and I’m planning to keep working and getting faster before then!
Thanks to everyone who supports me and follows along with my shooting journey!
